Corduroy has spent years being sensible. This one has a zip you can see, four pockets you will actually use, and a skirt that swings.
The zip runs from the collar to the waist, undone as far as you want it. Below that the skirt breaks into tiers, and corduroy is the right weight for that job, holding the fullness rather than letting it drop. Patch pockets at the front, two more in the skirt. Sleeves set in clean, buttoned at the wrist.
Flat boots and a knit underneath through winter. Trainers when you are not trying. Belt the waist seam and the tiers read fuller.
